INDEPENDENT OVERVIEW
What international students should know
University of Otago is a university associated with Dunedin in Ōtepoti. Its name alone should not decide your application. The useful question is whether one current programme fits your academic background, work history, budget and intended direction.
The main campus is in central Dunedin, with health teaching and research sites in other cities. Campus choice affects housing, transport and daily cost, so it should be confirmed before you make financial commitments.
Study areas to investigate
These broad areas are a starting point, not a promise that every qualification is available to international students in every intake.
Before you apply
Some health programmes use competitive or staged entry. Applicants must check programme-specific rules, not only general university entry.
- Open the provider’s official international-student page.
- Confirm the exact qualification, NZQF level, campus, duration and next available intake.
- Read academic, English-language and programme-specific entry requirements.
- Calculate tuition, compulsory course costs and realistic living expenses.
- Check whether placements, portfolios, interviews, registration or additional checks apply.
Admission and student visa are separate decisions
A provider decides admission against its published entry criteria. Immigration New Zealand makes the visa decision under current immigration instructions. Neither the provider, Sorena Visa nor an adviser can guarantee an immigration outcome.
Sorena can coordinate admission support and, where engaged, arrange regulated immigration work through appropriately qualified New Zealand professionals. Recommendations should be based on suitability—not only on provider commission.
